Uploading your content
- Saving your documents
Before you can upload your documents, you need to format them for display on a webpage.
It’s very simple:
- Using Microsoft Word, create Your Content
Once you are satisfied with your content, you need to save the document as a webpage.
- In Microsoft Word, click on ‘File>Save As’
Name the document according to the instructions we will send
you when your site is ready for your content.
Usually the file name will be the same as the link/button label you have
chosen for that particular content.
For example, the document you save in Word should be called “resume.htm” for
the button called "Resume" which takes viewers to the Resume page of your website.
See Complete Listing of Navigation Options and file names here.
- In the field labeled “save as type”, choose “Web Page” or “HTML” from the drop down.
Make sure you save the files in a directory where you can easily find them again.
You will need to know the location
of these files on your PC’s hard disk when you want to upload them to your website.
- Uploading
Go to the admin section of your site (www.yourdomain.com/admin) and enter your username and password
(we will send you these in the same e-mail that give you the instructions on how to save/name
your files). Then just follow the instructions on the page. You will need to know where
on your computer you saved your files when you hit the ‘Browse’ button.
Once you’ve selected all the files for uploading, click on ‘upload’ and wait until you receive a
confirmation that your files have been uploaded successfully. Depending on the size of your files
and the speed of your Internet connection, this may take a few minutes.
- Testing
Once your files are uploaded, you can immediately go to your site (simply
enter your domain name in the browser window) and view your content.
Check that all the links work and that they take you to the right content.
If anything doesn’t look right, please contact us and let us know what
the problem is. If you don’t like the way your content is displayed,
simply make the necessary changes in the original Word document, save
it again (with the same file name), and upload it again.
Keep your documents current
You can make changes to the content of your site as often as you like.
Simply make the desired changes in the original Word document,
save it again (with the same file name), and upload it again.
